The results of the work carried out during 2019 by the Social Projection units of the San Salvador headquarters and the Santa Ana and San Miguel Regional Centers were presented.

The Social Projection is part of one of the substantive functions of higher education, whose purpose is to link the academic work with the social, natural and environmental reality of the country; therefore, its actions are related to the institutional character and have their articulation with both teaching and scientific research.

The event highlighted several projects of the headquarters and regional projects, as well as the presentation of cultural and sports extension activities, which are a cornerstone of integral education.

Among the projects presented, the following stand out:

  • "Strengthening knowledge in relation to sexual and reproductive healthcare of teenagers in the Middle and Higher Education Institutions of the Eastern Zone", in the period from January to December 2019-2020.
  • "Improving Living Conditions and Self-Care Practices in the Family of the Communities San José Ingenio and Majaditas of the Metapan District, Department of Santa Ana, from January to December 2018-2020.
  • "Prevention and Control of Breast Cancer through Breast Self-Examination Education and Technique", in the period from January to December 2018-2020.

Each of these projects represents a fundamental part of the institution's work, because it makes possible to establish links with the environment and make possible the fulfillment of the institutional mission.

Dr. Luis Armando González (Researcher) gave a lecture on "Epistemology and Scientific Research: reflections and perspectives". Walter Antonio Fagoaga, General Coordinator of Research and Social Projection, presented the Journal Health and Development, whose main purpose is to establish a dialogue between the national and international academic community on topics related to healthcare, education and the environment.

To conclude the scientific day, nursing graduates held different forums on the topics of care and community and hospital practices, and to close with the theory and practice of nursing, as well as the exhibition of scientific posters.
