World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated annually from August 1-7 to promote breastfeeding and improve the health of infants around the world. It commemorates the Innocenti Declaration signed in August 1990 by government policymakers, the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and other organizations to protect, promote and support the practice of breastfeeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, the Instituto Especializado de Profesionales de la Salud, IEPROES Sede San Salvador held a fair called: \"Breastfeeding as the bond of love that makes our children healthy, strong and happy\", with the participation of students of nursing careers with the aim of stimulating the interest of young people so that both women and men understand the importance and relevance of breastfeeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, in IEPROES, Santa Ana Regional Center held: \"Awareness Day on the importance of Breastfeeding\" and compliance with the Law for the promotion, protection and support of breastfeeding, this activity was promoted by the National Directorate of Early Childhood of MINEDUCYT, students of nursing careers, with the participation of representatives of UNICEF, MINSAL and HUMAN MILK BANK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In IEPROES, San Miguel Regional Center, the project was called \" Empowering ourselves to make breastfeeding possible\", with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MINEDUCYT), the Breastfeeding Support Center (CALMA) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), with the purpose of learning how to improve the nutritional condition, growth and development, health and, consequently, the survival of infants and young children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Edelmira de Osegueda participated in the informative sessions on the legal framework for breastfeeding organized by MINEDUCYT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
