Charting the Path to a Sustainable Future: Research Congress in Environmental and Health Sciences, an Initiative Led by IEPROES

The II Congress of Research in Environmental and Health Sciences, CICAS 2023, was held under the slogan "Higher Education: defiance and challenges of scientific research for sustainable development", organized by the Specialized Institute of Health Professionals, IEPROES.

This congress was a meeting space for researchers, academics and students from 26 countries from different continents such as Canada, the United States, Argentina, Spain, Qatar, Slovenia, Angola, Mozambique, Panama, among others.

We kicked off CICAS 2023 with four pre-congress courses that addressed various areas of research, such as health, health promotion, environmental management, and environmental education. 

These courses were led by international professionals with expertise in these topics, who used a hybrid modality for four hours and then spent more than 25 hours evaluating the participants' individual work. More than 200 people from different countries attended.

The scientific program of the congress included three keynote lectures with professionals from Spain, the United States and Slovenia, and two expert panels with representatives from Mexico, Cuba, Panama, Argentina, Colombia and El Salvador.

We had 520 participants, more than 100 papers were presented in hybrid mode, in addition to 15 scientific posters, these representatives came from 9 different countries, and it is important to note that most of the presentations were made by students.

During the CICAS, the 1st Latin American Meeting of Students of Environmental and Health Sciences, "Contributions of student scientific research to sustainable development" was held, with an outstanding participation of students, encouraging the exchange of ideas and reflection, during the panel the students expressed the need to promote innovation and research.

CICAS has stood out as an environment conducive to learning, reflection and exchange, where motivation and interest in contributing to shared knowledge with the purpose of raising the quality of Higher Education Institutions prevails.
